One Month (New pictures added)

At one month old, Nicholas is doing all the usual baby things like a champ – sleeping, eating, crying, pooping, and generally being adorable. After four weeks, he now is starting to be awake and alert for more time during the day and is starting to interact with his environment. He focuses on light coming from windows, at the top of our heads (and sometimes at our eyes), and is beginning to learn that he has hands. Nicholas can sometimes pull his pacifier out of his mouth with his hand, and sometimes sticks his hand in his mouth when he can’t find the pacifier on his own.

In his first month, baby Nicholas has traveled to the pediatrician’s office, and has been shopping several times with mom and dad. He has attended a party at our friend Kyle’s house and was very sweet and sleepy the whole time. We have also received a good number of visitors at the house, including most of the grandparents.

Dad is now a pro at changing diapers and mom is getting very creative at doing daily tasks with one hand (including typing). During the day, Nicholas loves to be carried in the sling worn by mom. When he is cranky, he enjoys being held while mom or dad bounces on an exercise ball. He spends most of his time sleeping, though he is still quite nocturnal.
